Safe Kids South Carolina (Safe Kids SC)
Safe Kids SC works to implement evidence-based programs such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops, and educational events to help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries. DPH is the lead agency for Safe Kids SC and provides technical assistance and support to nine local Safe Kids Coalitions.

Drowning Prevention
- Facilitates the Water Safety Coalition
- Promotes safe swimming resources and water watcher cards
- Distributes life jacket loaner boards
Traumatic Brain Injury Prevention
- Partners with ThinkFirst SC
- Distributes bike helmets
Safe Sleep
- Partners with DPH's Safe Sleep Coalition
- Distributes Pack and Plays to Safe Kids Coalitions
Child Passenger Safety
- Certifies Child Passenger Safety technicians statewide
- Distributes car seats to Safe Kids Coalitions and local partners
- Provides community education to parents and caregivers

Child Passenger Safety Inspection Stations
Inspection stations provide you with direct access to a certified Child Passenger Safety technician who will help you properly install your car seat. Having your car seat checked is free, though many locations do require an appointment!
