This means that some closures may not appear on the state government office delays and closings map. The health and safety of our employees and our clients remains our highest priority. What is Asthma?

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that causes inflammation and swelling of the airways making it difficult for you to breathe. There is no cure for asthma, however, you can control and manage your asthma.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms may vary from person to person, depending on the type of asthma you have. Common asthma symptoms are:

  • Wheezing
  • Chest tightness
  • Coughing (nighttime or early morning)
  • Breathlessness
  • Fatigue

What causes asthma?

The cause of asthma is unknown however, genetics, allergen exposure and environmental factors are associated with the respiratory disease.

Asthma Triggers

Environmental conditions can trigger an asthma attack. Those include:

  • Tobacco smoke
  • Dust mites
  • Outdoor air pollution
  • Respiratory infections
  • Pets
  • Cockroaches
  • Smoke from burning wood or grass
  • Severe weather
