Hurricane Helene: Public Health Department Closures

Latest updates: Hurricane Helene

Our public health departments' hours of operation may be affected by power and staffing outages. This means that some closures may not appear on the state government office delays and closings map. The health and safety of our employees and our clients remains our highest priority. We are working to get services restored as safely and quickly as possible.

The South Carolina Health Care Coalition Advisory Council provides guidance and policy direction to achieve the goals set by the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP).

The council also:

  • Encourages local participation by public and private community health care organizations.
  • Shares and showcases best practices developed by regional health care coalitions.
  • Encourages consistent participation by appropriate local partners in DPH regional coalition meetings.

The Advisory Council communicates via conference calls or meetings on a quarterly basis. If you are a state partner, you may be invited to participate in the future.

Advisory Council Workgroup

The workgroup is a subset of the larger S.C. Health Care Coalition Advisory Council. It is made up of subject-matter experts across various disciplines. Their purpose is to brainstorm ideas to address specific gaps in health care system preparedness and make recommendations to regional health care coalitions. The group also reviews and adapts best practices across the state and nation to enhance HPP capabilities and overall preparedness in South Carolina.
