Healthcare-Associated Infectious (HAI) Unit

About Us

The HAI Unit within the Communicable Disease Epidemiology Section at the South Carolina Department of Public Health is dedicated to continually improving infection control and prevention practices in health care settings in South Carolina. The HAI Unit is responsible for surveillance and data analysis of healthcare-associated infections; the unit provides infection control and prevention assistance during facility-associated outbreaks or as requested and can provide limited NHSN technical assistance.

Change in Facility Infection Preventionist (IP)

Please report any changes in the licensed health care facility’s designated Infection Preventionist(s)/IP staffing or the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) administrator to the Healthcare-Associated Infections Unit using the Change in IP form.
