The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) is observing National Health Education Week (Oct. 19-23) by recognizing the critical work of the agency’s community engagement staff in the communities they serve.  

Celebrated annually during the third week of October, National Health Education Week aims to increase national awareness on major public health issues and promote a better understanding of the role of health education.

COLUMBIA, S.C. ― In advance of International Bat Week (Oct. 24-31), the South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) encourages residents to learn about the important role bats play in the environment while also being cautious in their presence. Additionally, DPH is hosting a drawing contest to encourage K-8 students to learn more about bats and the risk of rabies.
