COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) confirmed that two skunks found near Odell Street and Smith Circle in Liberty, S.C., have tested positive for rabies. No people are known to have been exposed at this time. One dog was exposed Sept. 11, 2026, by the first skunk, and exposed again Sept. 13, 2026, to the second skunk, and will be quarantined as required in the South Carolina Rabies Control Act.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) is observing Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 20-26) by emphasizing the critical importance of proper car seat use. The department also will host a series of educational events where parents and caregivers can ensure their car seats are properly installed and appropriate for their child’s age and size.
