South Carolina is excited to announce we are hosting our 6th annual PrEP Awareness Week September 22 – September 26, 2025! In partnership with the South Carolina AIDS Education & Training Center (AETC) we will offer up to 7 FREE CEUs for the webinars. The accreditation statement may be viewed below. The webinars are held Monday through Friday from noon to 1 p.m.

Monday, September 22
STI/HIV Screening & Prevention

Dr. Jessica Tillman will discuss the importance of STI and HIV screening and how to prevent the transmission of infections.

Tuesday, September 23
PrEP & Adolescents

Dr. Rebecca Widner will discuss the unique needs of adolescents in PrEP access, focusing on confidentiality, youth-friendly services, and comprehensive sexual health education.

Wednesday, September 24
PrEP & Women

Dr. Britton Gibson will discuss the barriers to PrEP access among women and explore strategies to increase awareness and provider engagement.

Thursday, September 25
Injectable PrEP

Dr. Kenric Ware will discuss the benefits and challenges of injectable PrEP, with a focus on improving adherence, patient preference, and implementation strategies.

Friday, September 26
Primary Care Summit (Virtual)

Objectives:

  • Dr. Will Capell will discuss current evidence-based pharmacologic options for weight loss management, including indications, contraindications, and practical considerations for initiating and monitoring treatment in the primary care setting.
  • Dr. Sarah Wright will discuss how to effectively and sensitively collect a comprehensive sexual history that supports accurate diagnosis, preventive care, and fosters trust with diverse patient populations.
  • Dr. Brooke McAdams will discuss the updated guidelines and best practices for managing hypertension and type 2 diabetes, with a focus on individualized treatment plans, patient adherence, and risk reduction in primary care.

College Sexual Health & Testing Events

In partnership with local community-based organizations, FREE HIV testing will be provided to local area college students. Students will also receive PrEP education material and PrEP gear!

Continuing Education Credits

CME ACCREDITATION STATEMENT:

"In support of improving patient care, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team." 

Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation. 

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credits.

ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education.
