South Carolina is excited to announce we are hosting our 5th annual PrEP Awareness Week September 23 – September 28, 2024! In partnership with the South Carolina AIDS Education & Training Center (AETC) we will offer up to 7 FREE CEUs for the webinars. The accreditation statement may be viewed below. The webinars are held Monday through Friday from noon to 1 PM.

Dr. Tia Robinson will discuss strategies for incorporating PrEP screening into the routine well-woman visits.

HIV PrEP & STI PEP

Dr. Marco Tori will lead a discussion on the benefits, risks, and proper usage of HIV PrEP and STI PEP.

Wednesday, September 25
Increasing PrEP Use for People who use Injection Drugs

Dr. Sayward Harrison will discuss strategies for reaching and educating individuals who use injection drugs about PrEP.

Selecting the Right PrEP Medication

Dr. Kenric Ware will lead a discussion on the safety and effectiveness data of injectable cabotegravir and oral tenofovir/emtricitabine-based PrEP therapies.

Friday, September 27
PrEP Symposium (In-person)

Objectives:

  • Discuss the necessary skills to sensitively and comprehensively collect patients’ sexual histories.
  • Describe strategies for seamlessly incorporating PrEP services into routine primary care visits.
  • Recognize the importance of ensuring a safe and affirming environment for LGBTQ+ patients.

College Sexual Health & Testing Events

Continuing Education Credits

CME ACCREDITATION STATEMENT:

"In support of improving patient care, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team." 

Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation. 

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credits. 

Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition at ADA.org/CERP.
