COVID-19 can cause mild to severe illness; most severe illness occurs in older adults. Symptoms include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea

When to Seek Medical Attention
When calling for medical attention, let providers know you have COVID-19 or have been exposed to COVID-19 on the call. They may have special instructions for you.
If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately; call 911. Emergency warning signs include*:
- Trouble breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to arouse
- Bluish lips or face
